TRC New Designer Flow Chart
A new design currently in use at TRC defining each step of the Strategic Underground Development design process.
Electric Distribution Designers are responsible for iterating, prototyping, and designing brand-new electric infrastructure for residential areas in Richmond Virginia.
This flowchart was designed to streamline the entire design process of a new onboarding designer.
After the designer has set up the preliminary design, an internal review will take place by management.
After the completion of the designs, the designer will review their own work. The designs will then go through a second review by the Quality Control (QC) Reviewer. After the second review is completed, the designs will be reviewed by management.
Dominion Energy will review both the underground and overhead removal designs. Revisions and grid numbers will be addressed during this time.
The administrative staff will set up the project folder on th server. Once the project solder is set up, a Designer will be assigned to the project by management. The designer will conduct an IFV of the project while the ROW research team will begin to obtain online and courthouse research.
The base map will be created after receiving information from the ROW research team. Survey will obtain field points in order to complete the base map.
After the base map is created the designer will be notified and then will begin to set up the preliminary design. Once all easements are secured and recorded, the designer will finalize the underground and overhead removal designs. The designer will work with the ROW agent to set up appointments to begin securing easements.
Dominion Energy will notify TRC management when they have approved the final design. (Between approval and construction, home visits and design revisions may be required)
Dominion Energy will announce once a project is released and management will notify the TRC team working on the project in under to prepare for construction. The survey team will stake out the cable route and all equipment for the project. Dominion energy and MasTec will schedule a preconstruction walk-through.
Finally the project is constructed and will be monitored throughout it’s lifespan for any changes.
